Horror Interaction System for Unity
A downloadable tool
Building a horror or escape-room game in Unity means writing the same handful of systems over and over: a door that locks, a key that opens it, a keypad, a clue journal, a flashlight. Horror Interaction System gives you all of it as small, independent, Inspector-driven components - drag a prefab in, fill in a few fields, press Play.
What's inside:
Interaction System - one raycast, one interface, works with anything
Door System + Key Item System + Locked Door variants (key or keypad)
Numeric Keypad System with a ready-made on-screen number pad
Clue System - discover clues by picking them up, examining an object, or reading a note
Note/Document System for readable in-world text
Flashlight with optional battery drain and flicker
Event Trigger Zones + a simple Jumpscare trigger - chain anything together with zero code
A starter Save/Load system (JSON, human-readable, easy to inspect)
A complete, playable Demo scene showing the whole loop end to end
Full source code, a from-scratch Player prefab, and a beginner-friendly README
Built for beginners. Every public field has a tooltip. Every system can be deleted without breaking the others. No paid third-party dependencies, no TextMeshPro import step, no render-pipeline setup - Built-in RP, works out of the box (URP/HDRP conversion steps included in the README).
Also making a horror game? Pair this with Horror Enemy AI System for Unity - a NavMesh-based stalking/chasing enemy AI toolkit by the same author. Zero code dependency between the two, so either works standalone: https://ishiharaworks.itch.io/horror-enemy-ai-system-for-unity
Not included: character art, environment art, or a full game - this is a developer tool, the same category as a dialogue system or an inventory framework. The demo scene uses simple graybox geometry on purpose, so you can see exactly how the code is meant to be used without art getting in the way.
